| Re. "Promoter spoiled Los Lobos show" by John W. Moxin, Letters, Sept. 16-22, 2004.
Dear Mr. Moxin,
Even giving considerable benefit of the doubt and assuming that you dont have a personal vendetta against Brian Taylor, I must conclude that you were at a different show on Friday night than the one I attended at the same venue on Saturday night. In the first place, it was not promoted as a concert but rather as a dance party and, judging by the smiling patrons bouncing animatedly on the jam-packed dance floor, it was taken as such by most people in attendance. While the Jack Singer is an excellent facility for hearing a concert, it is less appropriate for a dance party. Perhaps I am not as much of an audiophile as you, but I had no trouble distinguishing guitars, drums, saxophone and vocals. In any event, the sound was as Los Lobos and their sound technician wished it. Your complaint may be better directed to www. Loslobos.com.
You implore Mr. Taylor to "Please sir, stop putting on shows." With such a statement I can only surmise that you were not in attendance at either of the Calgary Blues and Roots Festivals
. All of this great talent was provided to Calgary audiences solely because of Mr. Taylor. Thus, au contraire Mr. Moxin, I urge Mr. Taylor to continue bringing us great music and doing what he does so well.
