Uncommon decency
I am a 30 year-old, six-month pregnant professional woman working in Calgary's downtown core. I could be your sister, your wife, your daughter or your friend. As thousands do, I commute each day to work using the Calgary Transit C-Train. There is a type of psychology involved in riding public transportation. It is generally understood that "first come, first served." So as a passenger riding the C-Train, I am conditioned to that psychology and find it uncomfortable to ask people to let me have their seat.

I do not fall into the "Senior or Disabled" category. I am simply a pregnant woman who is dead tired at the end of her work day and want nothing more than to sit down. Is it not considered common courtesy to offer a pregnant woman a seat? What would happen if people opened their eyes and stepped outside of their egocentrically-crafted universe? Can you imagine? It's not about you, it's not about me. It's about common decency and something called good manners.
