STATIC X
Beneath…Between…Beyond…
Warner Bros.

· Beneath contempt. Between stupid and insipid. Beyond all reckoning.

Here we go again – another Static X album. And you’re thinking, "Hey, didn’t they just put out a stinky album?" Yes, they did. And, oops, they’ve done it again. One thing about being static – it’s so redundant from the get go that eventually the mindless repetition has a numbing effect on your frontal lobe. Take vocalist Wayne Static – he’s got giant hair, wears white tube socks with sandals and has the world on a platter. So, a brother’s gotta dig deep to find the emotional material necessary to flesh out such techno-screamfests as "Anything But This" and "I’m With Stupid." Spurring their scratch-shallow persona onwards, Wayne rips his virtual throat out in an attempt to emulate the battery-acid-gargling Al Jourgensen. To this end, the band recruited another Ministry member, Paul Barker, to remix one track, while Fear Factory’s Burton C. Bell retools their lameass cover of "Burning Inside." But it doesn’t end there. No – they go on to desecrate Tony Iommi’s "Behind the Wall of Sleep" and The Ramones’ "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment." Make it stop!
