METHOD MAN
Tical 0 (Zero): The Prequel
Def Jam Recordings
· Is there a method to his method

Loyal Method Man fans sensed a new album would bring promise of a new day, but few braced for tragic disappointment. Method Man thinks he’s the best thing since cooked food – and maybe he was in the days of Wu-Tang, but his diminishing talent and appeal have faithful followers wiggin’ out.

Method Man is lost and selling out by emulating the styles of others. For instance, Snoop Dogg. On this album, Method has tried to capitalize on his smooth-pimp image by recording the track "We Some Dogs." He barks like the dog he wants to be throughout the tune, but it just doesn’t fit. Somehow he comes off looking like Carlton beside the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

The only track that comes close to sounding like an authentic Method movement is "Tease," which is catchy enough to be spun at clubs from coast to coast. Missy Elliot graces the album with her presence on the duet track "Say What," that will get a head nod or two and "Never Hold Back" is another of the album’s saving graces along with "What’s happenin’," showcasing Busta Rhymes busting his rhymes like a pro.

Despite other Wu-Tang Clan memorabilia, only four out of the 17 tracks on Tical 0 are good. But hey, sometimes you buy a CD for one song, right?
