| · Interpol v. 2.0
If Interpol got lambasted for being a derivative millennial update of Joy Divisions minor-chord brooding, where does that leave The Killers? Keyboard player and vocalist Brandon Flowers sounds so much like Interpols Daniel Kessler I had to check the liner notes to make sure they werent the same guy. And while you cant condemn a band on its vocalist alone, the rest of the band blanket Hot Fuss with NYC-sound by way of mild 80s-retro using semi-disco drums and simple hypnotic guitar riffs. The Killers may offer soaring synth lines, bright bass runs and a few killer (yeah, you heard me) choruses, but in the end its a retread of a retread. Still if you liked it the second time around, then third times the charm.
