| Re: "Joe Clark was right: You cant vote for either major leader, so take it upon yourself to find alternatives," by Norman Greenfield. Election. June 3 June 9, 2004.
Greenfield based his opinion of the Liberal government on its past record. However, when it comes to his opinion on Stephen Harper and the Conservatives, it is based simply on ignorance and fear mongering.
The firewall article by the gang of six was a response to the Federal government alienation of the West, except when it comes to provincial transfer payments which the Liberal government takes a keen interest in. As for the issue of Iraq, the Conservatives position was of moral support for our southern neighbour who is paying great sacrifice for freedom for the Iraqi people. People like Norman and the Liberal government are not anti-American, they just talk empty words and think they are taking the higher moral ground whereas those with strong beliefs like the Americans are willing to pay a price for what is good. And lastly, regarding the Constitution, the Conservative government will not make any changes unless the democratic process wills it. As it stands right now, it is the Government and the Supreme Court that is trampling on the democratic process to uphold the views of the minority. Norman is right about one thing, and I agree with him wholeheartedly, and that is it is your Canadian right and duty, first of all to be informed and then to vote.
