Fishy gifts for dad on Father’s Day
My Dad is one of those fathers. The kind that doesn’t want or need anything for Father’s Day, and would just rather bowl, golf, fish, hunt or drink Coors Light in the backyard. I gave up a long time ago on finding good hunting jackets, golf gadgets, or ties with some sort of weird manly theme on them for Father’s Day. It always ended up in a closet with the assurance that, "he loved it, he wears it all the time." If your Dad is like mine, the best gift for Father’s Day is a trip out of the house.

Based out of Medicine Hat, cypressflyfishing.com is the online companion to the Schlenker’s commercial and tour-oriented fly fishing business. The Schlenkers themselves are fishing guides with years of experience in waters around Alberta and British Columbia. All tours include a guide, lunch, beverages, and fishing equipment necessary for Dad to fight the mighty river dwellers. Most tours are located in Alberta with feature packages in the Cypress Hills region, Crowsnest River and "Blue Ribbon" Bow River. Prices start at $150 for a day on the water to a three-day B.C. salmon extravaganza for $1,395, including food and board.

In addition to promoting tour packages, the site has plenty of fly fishing resources with newsletters, photos, links and enough event listings across Canada to satisfy the most avid fisherman. You can also shop their online store for rods, float boats, waders and tackle.

Just be prepared to listen to hours of stories about "the one that got away."
