| · Arrington De Dionyso's the type of dude who e-mails you in all-caps LIKE THIS AND ALWAYS SHOUTS, EVEN AT THE QUIETEST OF PARTIES.
Old Time Relijun's driving force, Arrington De Dionyso, is the rare type of fucked-up bluesman that makes even Jon Spencer nervous when he walks into the same room.
While Lost Light may show an Old Time Relijun somewhat toned down from earlier days (their album Uterus & Fire will always stand as one of the hardest things I've ever heard), that same old shredder attitude is still there. Equal parts ? (of ? and the Mysterians), Tom Waits and Andre Williams, De Dionyso's yelp could peel wallpaper. "Vampire Victim" is the perfect example of OTR's modus operandi: pulled strings and garbage-can drums recorded with muddy mics, De Dionyso growing hysterically, "I was a victim!/ of a vampire!/ I got bit!/ On the nape of the neck!/ By a vampire!/ Now I'm a vampire!" (exclamation points obvious).
It's not exactly tuneful, but it's not much like anything else. That and I'm afraid if I said anything bad about it, De Dionyso would eat my face off.
