Given their promising past one might have hoped for more from Mum, but with their third album, this Icelandic quartet seems intent on establishing themselves as the lo-fi successors to The Cranes spooky little-girl vocals over simple electronics. As did the Cranes, Mum have their moments, although more on their previous album than here.
Still, it's kind of cute at times, and although the sound is darker on Summer Make Good than on 2002's Finally We Are No One, and though the vocals are fewer and half-lost in the mix, there are less interesting albums out there. But really, buying the single ("Nightly Cares") should be enough.
