GREYBOY Soul Mosaic (Ubiquity)
As Ubiquity Records' longest-running artist, San Diego DJ Greyboy has proven hes full of surprises. His last album Mastered the Art was a soundtrack-influenced, hip-hop-laced wonderland of retro goodness. The sheer diversity of samples up his sleeve suggests he may be ready to settle down. Regardless, Greyboys got the goods and, whatever he has planned, one can expect a classic combination of hip-hop, jazz, groove and funk.
BANCO DE GAIA You Are Here (Six Degrees)
Simply put, Banco de Gaia is the best electronic band on the planet. If their new singles "Zeus No Like Techno" and "Gray Over Gray" are any indication, this forthcoming release will be an unflinching slash at globalization, mass consumerism and meaningless dance music.
GIFT OF GAB 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up (Quannum Projects)
The talented Gift of Gab of Blackalicious fame remains one of the most overlooked rappers today. With the likely prospect that label mates such as DJ Shadow, Latyrx and Lyrics Born will make appearances, this is a debut to watch.
