RUMRUNNER

Longshot/Whiskey Voice
· Large men with studded denim jackets are gonna have some competition.

The first time I ever saw Rumrunner, I thought, "An acoustic guitar – at the Castle Pub?" And then they got into "Sick Bed of Cuchulainn" by the Pogues, a lot of large men in studded denim jackets started running into me, and goddamn, I started to love punk rock again.

For all the Oi-streetpunk fans who can’t forgive the kids for getting into At the Drive In, Rumrunner comes right out of heaven. They offer Knucklehead-style anthemic choruses, but with a janglier, Rum Sodomy and the Lash swagger and hooks that make you want to run into a lot of large men in studded denim jackets. They have two songs with "Whiskey" in the title. They have whiskey bootleggers on the album cover. Whiskey bootleggers with flat-topped, old-timey hats. If that image holds any kind of cultural significance for you (especially related to running into large men) you'll be singing along to Association on the second listen.
