BOB WISEMAN
It’s True
blocksblocksblocks
· Hmm… can I do this without using the "q" word?

For only being 30 minutes long, Bob Wiseman’s latest solo release is many things. Most of the time It’s True is stripped down and acoustic, but there are moments that blast out in songs like "Born To Love You" and "Lori." It’s often funny, as in "My Cousin Dave" (a message to media mogul David Geffen) and "Fluke Fluke Fluke," but it can also be achingly beautiful, as the tragic love song "Uranium" shows. It’s got mostly solo guitar accompaniment, but there’s some tinkly synth too and the drums make an appearance on one track. The stories feel highly autobiographical, but they could just be ones that Wiseman’s witnessed, or even ones that he made up.

One thing that is definitely true, though, is that this is a fine, fine little album.

(See? I didn’t need to say "quirky" after all – Ah, dagnabit…)
