| · Pogue + Mahone = Kiss my ass (Irish Gaelic)
Yes. You can bang your head to the tune of a penny whistle, and the assembled punks of the Green Isle are bound and determined to prove it to you even if it takes all night. The Mahones, Neck, Siobhan, Blood or Whiskey, The Tossers, Croppies, and nine (count em), other bands have all joined the Shite n Onions fray to tip a pint and salute St. Patricks Day!
Spinning tall tales of dark beer and darker days, these county gentlemen spin and reel in a wild electrified spiral dance that embraces traditional Celtic music and hard-core punk rock in one massive jig gig. The essence of this delight filled album is epitomized by The Skels, whose rendition of the Pogues epic "Streams of Whiskey" begins innocently enough as a pretty little ditty, but quickly sprints to a maddening pace that makes a bloodsport out of the old fashioned singalong. Their hedonistic philosophy both speaks and consumes volumes.
"When the world is too dark/ I need a light inside me/ I walk into a bar and drink 15 pints of beer!"
