| · They are p:ano and this is their heart.
Welcome to p:anos Den a warm refuge from everything abrasive and soulless. The music is carefully structured and performed with such emotion, you are instantly helpless against its fashion.
The second full-length release from this Vancouver chamber pop ensemble is built on the simplicity of melodic harmonies and the band has emerged triumphant in their battle with the hipster approach to creating sad music.
The arrangement of everything from electric guitar and drums to flute and cello are thoughtful and, rather than sounding forced, the vocals and instrumentation are positively brimming with opulence sans pretence. Nick Krgovich weaves personality with mythology into stories and lyrics that will make you want to hum along.
With guest appearances from Veda Hille and Torsten Muller as well as members of Beans and Jerk with a Bomb, the sound is full and varied, most notably the haunting mathematics of "Failure" and the pure whimsy of "After School Special." Colin Stewarts production does exactly what it should compliment the band.
The Den glimmers with immense growth and the promise of spectacular future endeavours.
