Annoying my landlord, one nail at a time
Recently I made the decision to paint my kitchen persimmon berry. This means that from the outside of my window with the blinds drawn and the track lighting placed just so, it looks like my kitchen is actually on fire. It’s a cheerful colour but the bare walls cried out for a touch of whimsy befitting a screaming orange. I put up my postcards from Scandinavia but hit a snag when I tried to convince my partner that a three-panel pervy pulp novel piece should go over the stove. I took his thoughtful criticism – as I usually do – as a challenge to find something he’d really be offended by and call it a compromise.

Enter the fantastic collection of, erm, ah, art at xratedcollection.com. While you can’t actually purchase the collection of ’60s and ’70s adult movie posters, you can marvel in their ingenious licentiousness – Born to Love and Be Loved! These are the... Girls That Do.

I suppose I could appeal to his music loving side by purchasing an original gig flyer at Calgary-based gigposters.com. With more than 2,000 artists listed you can find your favourite style or search your favourite band with links to sites to purchase coveted collectibles.

Hmmm, perhaps some words of wisdom would be helpful. An inspiring collection can be found at despair.com, a site committed to demotivational sayings. A majestic shot of a salmon spawning right into the open jaws of a bear reads, "The journey of a thousand miles sometimes ends very, very badly." Two polar bears fighting on a great sheet of ice at dusk yields, "As long as we have each other, we’ll never run out of problems."

I just can’t wait to redecorate the bedroom.
