CHEVELLE
Live From The Road
Epic
· Good band – bad name.

Not to be confused with Australian pop sensations The Chevelles, Chevelle are, in fact, Chicago-born brothers Sam, Pete and Joe Loeffler. This energetic new album features tracks from their two previous releases: Point #1 (produced by Steve Albini) and Wonder What’s Next (their debut on Epic), along with the colossal dud "Until You’re Reformed" from the soundtrack to the equally lacklustre Daredevil.

Despite frequent comparisons to alt-metal legends Helmet, Live From The Road has muddy opaqueness more akin to the chaotic effluence of Slayer. Singer-guitarist hell spawn Pete aspires to bring harmony to the tight trio’s harsh thrash-core sound, but unfortunately his prepubescent Chad Kroeger vocals have a laughable quality to them. Still, undeniably mosh-worthy, Chevelle’s pretty moniker turns out to be a classic case of bait-and-switch as the brothers lay on the demonic down strokes.
