THE BLUE SERIES CONTINUUM PRESENTS:
The Sorcerer Sessions featuring the music of Matthew Shipp
Thirsty Ear
· Demodulating all that jazz.

Clips, snips and wisps – such is the nature of this sometimes brilliant, always frenetically scattered reinterpretation of the works of jazz-classical keyboardist extraordinaire Matthew Shipp.

Steering this tightly rigged Shipp of fools, the man himself facilitates the complete reinterpretation of a dozen of his works by five other musicians. From the earnest opening chords of "Pulsar" to the tremulous morbidity of "Mist," Shipp opens the door wide for a momentous musical crossover. Squealing clarinets and ponderous piano solos elevate Shipp’s songs beyond their usual structured setting to new esoteric heights. An endurance test of sorts, the powerful abstraction of The Sorcerer Sessions conjures exciting mutations within the jazz and electronic genres while simultaneously obliterating the line between performance and performance art.
