| · Ska West tropical tunes from Edmonton?
Uniting under their northern Alberta area code, The Operators *780* are a feisty five-piece punk-reggae coalition with more experience under their belts than one would expect from such a young group of players. The dynamic quintet has rubbed elbows with the likes of ska music greats The Slackers and The Kingpins, and was given the nod by the Stomp/Union record label for their All-Skanadian IV compilation. The bands six-song EP debut Power Version jumps right into the fray with the explosive "Stop and Think," which somehow manages a positive spin on contemplating suicide. Sticking to the basic ska formula of hopping horns and heavy beats, The Operators have produced a well-put-together collection of their live performance staples that effectively conveys their full-ensemble sound.
