THE SICK FITS
Are We the Young Savages?
Longshot Records
· Canada’s best dressed punks conquer all.

Just when you thought the final nail was hammered into the coffin of punk rock, here comes something out of left field (Ottawa, actually) to remind you of where it all began. This is power-pop meets art-punk in line with early Germs, Eddie and the Hot Rods, and the Heartbreakers. Are We the Young Savages? is a catchy as hell head-on car crash that leaves no survivors.

This EP includes three bonus tracks, two of which are live recordings – merely a teaser of their live set. One of the live songs, "Ack Ack Ack Ack" was messed up during mastering, and all you hear is bass and drums, making it reminiscent of old punk rock bootlegs that only the truly obsessive can enjoy. However, that mistake was remedied by the live version of, "Don’t Sweat It, Call The Medic."

The Sick Fits are clearly one of the best new Canuck punk bands today, with an undeniable energy and attitude. Plus, they win a prize for the month’s best song title: "I’m A T.V."
