| · A tribute to the late rapper inspired by the film Tupac Resurrection goes head to head with a hit-and-miss remix collection.
Including artists like Eminem, 50 cent and Tupac Shakurs arch nemesis, the late Biggie Smalls, the soundtrack for Tupac Resurrection has more to offer than the garbage remixes put out by "Big Suge" Knights Death Row records.
Tracks like "Death Around the Corner" and "Str8 Ballin" evoke the true spirit of Tupac and the album commemorates the life and times of this hot-hit lyrical mastermind with a nod to the masters of gangsta rap before, during and after his time. "Holler If You Hear Me" sounds like old school Eazy-E and "Secretz of War" takes its cues from Ice Cube.
Although there are a number of contributing artists on the compilation, all the recorded tracks share Tupacs ingenious musical talents he wrote every song on the album.
The Nu-Mixxx Klassics may cause your head to bop rhythmically with Tupac appreciation, but if youre expecting the brilliance of the late rapper to pound through the subwoofers, think again.
"How Do You Want It" featuring K.C & Jo Jo and "Never Had a Friend Like Me" were better in their original form most of the new backbeats dont mix well, especially when compared to the original versions. One listen will have you digging through your dusty CD collection in search of original tracks with Shakurs authentic seal of approval.
The new backbeats reflect the evolution of bip-boom-bap which would compliment Shakur if he were still alive and able to tailor his lyrics. The Nu-Mixxxes ruin the past compositions and freestyle fusions he poured his heart and soul into. Fans of Shakur are better off with Resurrection.
