| · Wow brown.
Spokesmen for the terminally depressed, Small Brown Bike pedals uphill and against the wind. This confusingly full-sounding tour de force takes emo to screamo and back again. Its difficult to park Small Brown Bike on any given rack, for it is neither punk nor pop, and it is certainly not rock. In fact, its familiar chunka-chunka guitar riff doesnt even enter the picture until the denouement of the third track "A Declaration of Sorts" fades into the weightier "Scream in the Silence." Determined to dwell on a sad domestic scene, The River Bed is Small Brown Bikes dolorous rut of choice. Every song on this morose album broods over some tragically ill-fated relationship or unfulfilled dream. Even the final track "A Lesson to Remember" drags us to a funeral, for shit sake!
