Banff Springs annual festival of food and wine
Calgary has undergone an amazing transition in the past decade. Our food and wine culture has advanced exponentially, and we now enjoy one of the most progressive scenes in the country.

The growth in Banff has been equally astounding. People from around the world are drawn to Banff each year for the skiing and natural beauty, but Calgarians now have another reason to visit this world-class centre. With dining rooms such as Eden at the Rimrock and The Banffshire Club in the Banff Springs hotel, people can treat themselves to some of the finest cuisine in Canada, with sensational wine lists to match.

October 31 will mark the 12th annual Festival of Wine and Food held at the Fairmont Banff Springs, an event which epitomizes the commitment in Banff to conduct first-class events – and this year’s itinerary looks to be the most exciting to date. Wine director Anthony Chalmers has assembled a set of tastings so extraordinary that wine lovers from around the country will be lining up to get in.

The festival will include a vertical tasting of the top wines of Penfold’s (including Grange), a sampling of Cognac from Courvoisier, fine old port from Symington, wines from the Rhone Valley (complements of Chapoutier), Bordeaux from Chateau Palmer and d’Angludet, and to cap it off, a vertical tasting of the legendary Sassicaia.

For information on attending any or all of these tastings (and staying the weekend to enjoy the food as well), call 403-762-8405. This is truly an event of international calibre.
