PEACHES
Fatherfucker
Kitty Yo / XL Records
Aaah, Peaches – the bad girl with a good name.

Think of her as P.J. Harvey with a beard… make that two beards. Known for her spunky sampling and naughty pillow talk, Peaches (a.k.a. Merrill Nisker) has made quite the splash with her unique brand of grrl power. This bi-curious wonder woman now faces the herculean task of matching the impact made by last year’s bombshell – the double-barrelled delight of Teaches of the Peaches. While this album can’t hold a candle to the raw sexuality of Teaches, the artwork and bonus videos do give us a better look at Peaches herself (not necessarily a good thing). With a few solid numbers to its credit, Fatherfucker is amateurish hip-hop rife with profanity and stripped-down synthesizer beats – though the surprise spanking from her male counterpart, Iggy Pop, on the track "Kick It," certainly raises the bar.

2/5
