Cooking for a cause
So there’s this girl I know named Tina, and she’s one of the most positive people you’ll ever meet. She’s 32, and has a two-year-old son and a brand spankin’ new four-month-old daughter. To me this sounds overwhelming, but to her being a mom is the most important thing in her life. It is the reason she smiles, even after her chemotherapy.

Tina has a large tumor in her lungs which was discovered a week after she gave birth to her second child. It is a rare form of inoperable cancer. Tina’s not the type to ask for help. Neither is her husband, who had to quit school so he could work as much as possible while still helping his wife and children. So help decided to come to them in the form of a fund-raising lunch, silent auction and bachorlette auction held by complete strangers (just like you), who wanted to help after hearing Tina’ s story.

Calgarycooks.com is holding its first ever fund-raising event on September 18, with proceeds going to Tina. Scrolling down the olives to the site’s calendar will lead you to details on how to bid on the lovely ladies or donate an item to the silent auction. The three-course luncheon menu is also available online to make your mouth water while you give to a good cause. Luncheon tickets can be bought through mctoth@shaw.ca or ruth@calgarycooks.com. All events are being held at the newly opened Crush restaurant and lounge (1312 - 12 Ave. S.W.). The deadline for tickets and final bachlorette bids must be in by September 12.

Feed yourself and your karma.
