Bric-a-brac for the bad secretary
I used to be a huge junk jewelry collector. I would scour thrift stores and sketchy boutiques for Star Wars rings, Charlie’s Angels hair clips and highly offensive belt buckles. From time to time I still dig out my Elvis ring or wear my Charlie Brown necklace to relive the nostalgia – it always makes me smile to see the plastic shiny silliness of it all.

That’s why I was thrilled to stumble upon the cheap thrills at naughtysecretaryclub.com, a site devoted to reworked vintage jewelry created by 28-year-old Jennifer Perkins, based out of Austin, Texas. Looking for a belt buckle that proclaims Club Bingo? Yearning for a heart necklace with your first love’s name complete with rainbow motif? A ring that says Kittenlicious? It’s all here.

The jewelry section is huge, with a revamped vintage section, resin bracelets, earrings and necklaces. In the Purse section you’ll find hand-painted bags, record-bowl purses and cigar-box styles complete with cheeky pin-up girls and beaded handles. You can also create your own kitsch factor by designing your own custom piece – just submit your baby photos or pet pictures if you want something a little more personal.

If jewelry isn’t your thing, you can always pick up an underwater pin-up scene tissue box cover, Kenny Rogers fridge magnet or Scotty Dog barkcloth journal.

All jewelry comes with a "within reason" guarantee and most pieces take around four weeks to arrive. Prices are reasonable and include shipping and handling.

But before you check out with your order, have a laugh at Perkins’s zine corner, which includes tips from a topless dancer, crafts involving vinyl, album reviews and her own mom’s advice column: Ask a Soccer Mom.
