It’s not surprising to see that Pilot to Gunner has surfaced on the Arena Rock label, as its closely controlled brand of acoustic calamity displays a serious streak of stadium rock.
Like Fugazi and Polvo, this Brooklyn quartet is highly adept at stomping and crashing through track after track of mathematical ambition. Dynamic but not overreaching, the stark vocals of Scott Padden and the even-handed guitar work of Pat Hegarty are a made-to-fit combination. Storytelling and kinetic energy collide on songs like "Every Minute Is A Movie" and "It’s So Good To Be In Paris."
