I agree with half of Global Soul’s title. This compilation offers soul, pure and simple – smooth, groovy and not-too-subtly sexy. On most of the tracks, though, there isn’t much evidence of the "global" aspect. These artists seem largely content to emulate American "neo-soul" performers like India.Arie and Erykah Badu and leave their local influences behind them. It’s not bad music by any means – it’s just uninspired. Fortunately, most of the performers (such as 1 Giant Leap) have full-length solo albums out so check those out to get a better idea of their true abilities.
