ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION
Enemy of the Enemy
EMI

· In these troubled times, the enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine.

After a two-year absence from the studio, MIDI-warriors Dr. Das and Sonic are back with a vengeance. Asian Dub Foundation, the hard-rapping politically correct collective we know and love, has now expanded to include two new MCs (Aktar and Spex), as well as a new drummer (discovered in Toronto) and a new percussionist.

Enemy of the Enemy veritably explodes with the futuristic opening track "Fortress Europe," a ragga-dub tornado inspired by a François Bergeron short film about immigration. Another blockbuster is the tabla-padded breakdown "La Haine," a tribute to Mathieu Kassovitz’s film of the same name, which explores racist attitudes in contemporary France. The soft centre to this melée of mitigated outrage is found in the enchanting "1000 Broken Mirrors," which spotlights the unmistakable angel/banshee crooning of Sinead O’Connor.
