AEROGRAMME
Sleep and Release
Matador
· Who knew the creepiest record in a long time would come out of Glasgow?
Between the religious imagery, the desperate answering machine messages and the breakneck toggle between metal and indie rock, Aerogramme proves to be one of a kind. The groups second record, Sleep and Release, follows its tradition of hauntingly beautiful and violently eerie music. The lead vocalist sounds like he either just had his leg ripped off or is Jónsi from Sigur Rós singing in English. Regardless, the result is satisfyingly uncomfortable. Branching out to incorporate both strings and electronics, this gothic assault manages to be as diverse as possible while still remaining cohesive.
