MY MORNING JACKET
Sweatbees
Wichita

· A back-to-school Americana primer.

There’s always been something larger-than-life about My Morning Jacket – they make music for which the terms "sprawling" and "epic" do little justice. For Sweatbees, an odds-and-sods EP composed of selections from recent odds-and-sods EPs released across a scattershot of indie labels, the sounds are as big and open as the cover art’s mountain waterfalls.

Whether it’s the skipping rock-disco beats of "O The One That Is Real" or the AM-dial harmonies of "Lowdown," all of Sweatbees sounds like the best tracks from those K-Tel compilation tapes that provided the soundtracks to your earliest family vacations.

Picture a countrified attitude-free Oasis raised on the Byrds instead of the Beatles and fronted by a hopped-up Mark Kozalek in love with the sound of his multi-tracked voice. Multiply by 10 and rejoice at what you’ve found.
