FLUX A.D.
Transatlanticthoughts
Independent
· Veruca Salt fans rejoice!
The Canadian pop landscape is littered with homecoming queens (Shania Twain, Celine Dion) and jock rockers (Nickleback, Theory of a Deadman). Carving their own rung on the musical social ladder as the introspective, artsy type is Hamilton-based band Flux a.d.
Transatlanticthoughts, the quintets second full-length release, is full of introspective, dreamy pop gems. Guitarist Bill Majoross songwriting has a simple intelligence and seems to come straight from frontwoman Julie MacDonalds inner-monologue. Accompanied by bassist Sally Panavas, MacDonalds girlish vocals create a perfect harmony not seen in this style since Veruca Salt took the world by storm with the album American Thighs.
With all the cheeky bite of Veruca Salts "Seether," the toe-tapper "Letters From Japan" has some of the most infectious verses to come out of a pop group in a long time. Joel Stouffer keeps the beat on drums, and Graham Walsh on keyboards rounds out this fun eclectic clique.
