WEB WATCH
by Courtney Thompson
I actually had the pleasure of seeing Reservoir Dogs in the theatre. Not in re-release mind you, but on a whim and far too much vodka in 1992 when it was showing at midnight in a sketchy downtown Winnipeg theater. My companions and I joined the drunks and junkies holed up for $1.50 for 100 minutes. It was a turning point for me and I’ve never quite looked at the usual Hollywood fare the same way since.

I saw Pulp Fiction on opening night and stayed for the late show. I simply couldn’t move. It’s been five years since Jackie Brown was released and I was beginning to give up on director Quentin Tarantino. Oh, I thought he was working on something other than those Rolling Thunder Pictures (films you wouldn’t normally watch, but Tarantino showcases them with a little intro so you’re sucked in – Detriot 9000, Switchblade Sisters), but I wasn’t really sure what was up until now.

The official Web site for Tarantino’s fourth film, Kill Bill, is finally up and running at Kill-Bill.com. The trailer shows Uma Thurman in full motorcycle gear, kicking ass with a samurai sword. There’s Lucy Liu with a ’70s flip, Daryl Hannah with an eye patch and David Carradine… well, just looking like David Carradine. There’s a fight scene over an enclosed Zen rock garden. There’s a hatchet flying through the air, there’s a really cool song playing over the action. In short, it’s the fourth film by Quentin Tarantino. And it looks worth the wait.

After you’ve watched the trailer a few hundred times, go to the links page and check on current updates from unofficial sites where the film production rumours are flying fast and furious. They may be a little thin, but it’s all you’ve got ’til the fall release date.
