| Group fights armchair politics
I thought the article "Armchair politics" (by David Bright, Viewpoint, Nov. 21 - 27 issue) was timely, given that there is a group of individuals in Calgary that is taking steps to rid the city of "voter apathy."
We know that all Western democracies have seen a steady decline in voter turnout, but instead of accepting this as the status quo, there are some who want to change it. Does anyone have a right to bitch if they aren't going to try and make a difference? A forum was held last spring on attacking voter apathy and another one, focused this time on taking strategic action in the community, is planned for February 11, 2003. Stay tuned for details on how to get involved.
