FLASH BASTARD
Bastard Radio
Longshot
· "No, rock and roll aint gonna save your life, but when the beats inside, you can cut it out and come alive tonight."
Sometimes there is nothing more refreshing than a straight-up, unapologetic rawk album. Vancouvers Flash Bastard combine hot licks with tight leather posturing for a balls-out collection of hooks and harmonies. Nothing new here Bastard Radio is content recalling 70s punk and 80s power pop but Donal Finns cries of "Yeah," "Baby" and "Oooh" dont rely on originality, they rely on recognition. You could complain about the predictable solos, mid-song kick-and-snare drum breakdowns and snotty backing vocals, but you would be missing the point. Maybe youd rather listen to your Joan Jett records, but so would Flash Bastard.
