Jackass: It would be pretty funny to get tattooed while bouncing around in the back of an off-road vehicle, but it would be way more funny if that off-road vehicle were being driven by Henry Rollins.
Dumb Ass: I should try that paper-cutting thing.
Smart Ass: Contemporary circus-geekery fused with Chaplin-esque slapstick to produce a film that challenges our notions of the performer's role and the very nature of our relationship to entertainment. Combining performance art with Queering techniques, sprinkling in elements of voyeurism and homoeroticism, the young men of Jackass demand that we ask ourselves: "Jack? Or Ass?"
Wise Ass: You have to respect a man who can launch bottle rockets from his anus, feed raw chicken to an alligator out of his underwear and find time to snort wasabi.
Asshole: Sophomoric frat-boy behaviour, the worst sort of lowest common denominator "entertainment" imaginable. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to read my Yann Martel.
Review Ass: An extension of the now-defunct MTV series Jackass, this movie features stupid people doing stupid things. Spike Jonze helped write the "screenplay," and Tony Hawk has a cameo. The fact that Jackass is supremely stupid and crass doesn't seem to interfere with it being the best movie ever made by anyone, anywhere. |
