LAYO & BUSHWACKA!
Night Songs
XL Recordings

· What’s old is new – Electronica duo show that night-owls have more fun.

Raw yet comforting, like a shot of bourbon, Nina Simone’s voice resonates on "Love Story," the elegant lead single from the charmingly sublime Night Songs. British DJs Layo Paskin and Matthew "Bushwacka!" Benjamin lead off their second album by intricately layering a sample of the blues and jazz legend over a rolling bass line, duelling pianos and a nimble, synthesized beat. Moby may have delivered the intriguing combination of Delta blues and dancehall beats to the mainstream, but this duo keeps the torch burning with the sumptuous "Love Story."

Layo & Bushwacka! recorded their first album, Low Life, independently in 1998. Reigning over the London club scene for more than a decade, they bring diversity, experience and an infinite sample catalogue into the studio. Tipping their hats to funkadelia ("Ladies and Gentlemen"), jungle ("Shining Through"), drum and bass ("We meet at Last") and acid house ("All Night Long"), Night Songs strongly stimulates all the whispers, breezes and mysterious reverberations of the nocturnal experience.
