Sweet Clothes for Bad Girls

The best T-shirt I ever owned was red and had the teeniest white font proclaiming "nasty little bitch." It's amazing how a piece of fabric can make people think twice before pushing in front of you at the supermarket checkout line.

A T-shirt can be an extension of yourself, from your favourite band to your most fought-for cause. However, if your inner bad girl craves a more pronounced approach, I have a few suggestions for tees that are off the beaten path.

I first discovered New Orleans clothing company Archaic Smile while shopping in Winnipeg. With its naughty designs portraying the moods of Miss Anne Thrope, I was hooked. Glittery exclamations of Nemesis and Something Wicked this Way Comes prompted me to buy way too much black for my wardrobe.

Thankfully, you don't have to travel to Winnipeg to pick these up. At gargoylesclothing.com you'll find a great selection of these cranky shirts in addition to goth wear and accessories.

Another bad girl after my own heart is the wee, dark-haired Emily, who just wants to be left alone to hang with her cat. You've probably seen her glaring at you from under her heavy black bangs on T-shirts, stickers and skateboards. Yet, there's more to Emily then meets the eye and at emilystrange.com, you'll find her personae expanded into a Web site that features Emily's music picks, hidden puzzles to score free Emily wear, and Emily's skate-ramp plans. The online store is fully stocked with her line of wicked tees for girls and boys, in addition to a few surprise pieces in her wardrobe (devil hoodies, anyone?).

Bad girls of summer, we salute you
