The coolest American music festival salutes local cyber duo

Only one year after going online, Gigposters.com has been chosen as a finalist in the art and culture category of the Web site competition at the 2002 South by Southwest (SXSW) music and film festival in Austin, Texas. The Web site – created and maintained by Calgarians Clayton Hayes and Kendra Jones – has met with enormous success in the past 12 months. With fans logging on in droves, and artists from around the world submitting their work, Gigposters.com’s numbers continue to go through the roof – Hayes says that the site now has close to 5,000 posters in its archives.

Where do the majority of poster submissions come from? The home base of SXSW, and the music capital of the world, pardner: Texas. To vote for Gigposters.com, head to their site and click on the SXSW icon. If enough of the plugged-in public vote for it, it will receive the SXSW People’s Choice Award for the most exciting up-and-coming Web talent. Fire up those computers because you can vote once a day until noon on March 1 (CST). The winner will be announced on March 10.
