STAN GETZ
Getz for Lovers
Verve

· "I think you’d better buy that now, don’t you…."

Ever the literalist, I assumed that this compilation of Stan Getz’s most sensuous tunes was an album to have sex by. Makes sense, anyway, for it starts off slowly with "Moonlight in Vermont," goes on to generate some steam with "Body and Soul" and "The Look of Love," and then reaches its inevitable climax with "The Girl from Ipanema."

Me, I was done by track three, "I’m Glad There Is You." Somewhat embarrassing, I know. Even more so, actually – I wish I’d left the store first.

Still, not a bad collection, whatever you’re doing.
