BUSH
Golden State
Atlantic/ Warner

· That petrol-fuelled emotion.

· Bush rolls out their radio-friendly unit shifter.

Soft, loud and solid, Golden State presents indie rock with an automotive theme. Surprisingly, this earnest musical effort merits a leather-gloved thumbs-up – a flight of 12 "golden" songs that range in tone from heavy and frenetic to immature and morose. Gavin Rossdale's teen-dream vocals are still as punchy as ever, and while the distortion and angst remind us of Nirvana, the sad fact remains that this guy could out-sing Kurt any day of the week (please save your letters, I know where my loyalties lie)! Bush's guitar-laden hitchhiker poetry reaches its emotional climax on the adrenaline-soaked track "The People That We Love." Play this until you're so sick of hearing it that you hurl it from the window of your swiftly moving vehicle (thank you for not littering)!
