KID606
ps you love me
Mille Plateaux
· Kid606 pokes fun at the electronica intelligentsia with a remix album thats not only radical, but fun.
Surprisingly young and talented, Kid606 has already released four full-length albums at the tender age of 22. All bear his distinctive brand of IDM and experimental electronics, and ps you love me, a follow-up to last years electronica valentine ps i love you is no different. It sees the likes of Matmos, Twerk and Pan*American remixing some of the Kids finest moments, restructuring them into entirely new compositions.
Matmos "Twirl: Photoshoot Remix" samples the conversation at a recent publicity photo shoot, warping the voices into what sounds like a group of bagpipers slowly run over by a steamroller, and the majority of the other tracks display an approach just as nonconformist, not to mention downright fun.
Best of all, though, are Kid606s four new originals, themselves as idiosyncratic and warped as any remix could ever be.
