STOMPIN’ TOM CONNORS
Stompin’ Tom Sings Canadian History
EMI

· Redundant title, redundant music.

As with faithful old Rex, who’s seen better days but still hangs around the house and continues to amuse the grandchildren, you're just not sure what to do with Dr. Tom Connors (as he now likes to be known, it would seem from the credits here).

Judged as a contribution to Connors's substantial body of work, Sings Canadian History is a credible, interesting and at times even moving (or mawkish: see "Erika Nordby") collection of songs.

Judged as a contribution to music, in any meaningful sense of the word, it's a piece of crap.

I guess you pays your money and takes your choice.
