| Fasten your seatbelts Turbulence ahead
Promoters have it all lined up for the long weekend, with an extra day of dancefloor diagnostics in celebration of our Canadian mosaic.
Starting things off early, drum n bass powerhouse Mickey Finn takes to the Drum n Bassment at the Underground on Thursday, August 2. Tickets are available at the door. This is a must for any junglist.
The mondo party fire will be lit again on Saturday, August 4 as Turbulence takes you on a bumpy ride in an arena or warehouse near you (TBA). This is headlined by two Toronto jocks, Big League Chu and J-Groove. Big League will be busting breaks while J Groove is in town with his blend of house. Fever and Karizma clock in with a head-to-head jungle jam, Vdash will take on Dub Cee, and McTwist will square off with Dr. Pepper in another notable tag team bout. FiveAlive, Pete Wilde, Mista Levi, Nigel, Anwar, Mark Thomas, Spincycle, Dephi, Ara de Lei, Isis Graham, Robtek, Lil Andy and Troy Allen also have sets in the maelstrom. Three notable Friday events will kick off the weekend. The newly minted Audio, with the not-so-new Cary "thirtysomething" Chang, makes its debut on August 3. This is a night that promises much in the way of beat diversity, breaks, bass, trance and house to pilot you on the dancefloor.
Horizon at The Warehouse, also on August 3, takes in the techno-laced Mohawk tour, with Madam Zu, Chris Z and Dynamic Intervention pumping out furious 4/4. Special Agent will be your resident all-night guide, and Pete Wilde breaks for you in the basement.
The Palace continues its Global Sessions on August 3 with a residents night featuring Pauly Dee and Anthem as well as Magpie in the chill room.
BeatMatrix raises the level of Pandemonium with their essential Long Weekend Edition on Sunday, August 5. PJ the Boy and Drew Atlas will be joined by the usual cast of characters.
The Emerald Café offers Tryptonyte on August 5, a late-night excursion into 4/4 featuring Sigrid Elliot performing live vocals with Refuge, Rob Tech and others.
For those in need of a deeper touch, Sunday Skool on August 5 has the prime minister of depth, DJ Rice, holding court for a night of smooth and soulful house at The Night Gallery.
Also on August 5, The Embassy will have DJ Pump hosting a long weekend event, while Shadow on First Street S.W. will have Anwar, The Flying De Koning, J Byrd and Matt B playing all night.
Angel Alanis will be the super-duper guest over at Fehrenheit on Wednesday, August 8 with Delerious the jungle soccer dad, Fever and Domenic G holding down the resident slots for your mid-week beat happening.
To hear the latest up-and-coming jocks, August 8 also offers One Fish, Two Fish at the Fox and Firkin. There youll find a new night featuring a bevy of signature tunes and hot commodities use the back door entrance for this one.
Also on August 8, DJ Proph plays Dirty Decibels at the Castle Pub.
