The one and only Peter Rabbit

I always know when Easter is here because I suddenly find myself craving unholy amounts of chocolate. I'll go to my local retail outlet and find them – their sugared eyes staring back at me in terror with only the flimsy plastic between us. I take them home, coax them out the box and proceed to rip those deliciously hollow ears off. And then it's over – till next year.

I blame my parents. All those Easter egg hunts ending in the orgy of chocolate smeared across my demonically grinning face. When you’re hopped up on sugar, no chocolate chicken is safe. So I beg of you, please, do not carry on this tradition. Easter is many things to many people, but chocolate is just plain evil. Get back to basics and hang with the original bunny – Peter Rabbit.

At peterrabbit.co.uk you can visit an online world based on the works of Beatrix Potter. Peter and his friends, Tom Kitten, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Squirrel Nutkin, are all here with little flash films, e-cards and games to entertain. The best part is the Story Time option (located under the "characters" area of the site map), which leads you to a choice of stories read with a lovely British accent as you click through the images. This is a engaging site for kids, and with great amusements like The Vegetable game (guide Peter through Mr. McGregor's garden, scamming as many veggies as you can without getting whacked with the hoe), you'll be fighting over who gets to go first.

The site is available in French, English, German and Japanese. With beautiful illustrations and clever interactive menus, you'll find yourself forgetting all about those sugared eyes and tasty ears.
