· The Calgary Folk Music Festival is being forced to uproot from their current space by the end of this month due to budget limitations and rising rent prices. For further information, contact Kerry Clarke or Les Siemieniuk at 233-0904.

· Alliance Atlantis Cinemas’ Banker’s Hall location will be closing on April 22, 2001 when the company’s lease on the space expires. According to an Alliance Atlantis spokesperson, Banker’s Hall will redevelop the space into some kind of retail property, and Alliance Atlantis still plans to open its new downtown cinema, on the corner of 15th Avenue and 8th Street S.W., in Spring 2002.

· The Society of Bowness Residents is circulating a petition and running a letter writing campaign to bring attention to the situation on Paskapoo Slopes, a natural area adjacent to Canada Olympic Park. In December, city council gave approval for more housing development on the slopes, which is home to several species and has been determined to be archeologically significant. The society states that hundreds of Calgarians have worked to preserve the area as part of the public park system, and it is concerned that once it’s developed, it will be lost forever.
