October 26 is the day of reckoning for system gamers everywhere. If this date is circled on your calendar and you booked it off from work months ago, you know what I’m talking about. You’re picking up your long-awaited electronic companion, the Playstation2 – or PS2 to those in the know.

There are a number of Web sites – official and unofficial – that offer "the latest" in PS2-related goodies. Most of them suck. There is one, however, that stands a good head above the crowd for best general info and is definitely worth checking out.

The nice thing about psx2central.com is the variety. It has a mix of reviews, previews, forums, downloads and links. The site also promises to offer the best selection of cheat codes as soon as the games are released. There’s a lot of photos to drool over if you’re into all the hype about the awesome graphic capabilities of the PS2 (the hype is warranted) – plus the database of available information on the games is one of the most extensive I’ve seen.

The reviews are insightful and honest as well as informative. The criteria is based on gameplay, graphics, sound and value. This is a bonus due to the wealth of games Sony usually cranks out – it’s good to know which games are a rental or worth saving your hard-earned dollars for. Additionally, you can submit your own reviews or cheat codes so all will know your oneness with your machine.

Before you max out your credit card on PS2 treats, check out what the people who actually get paid to play this thing are saying.

cutline? You know there's got to be a warning about seizures before this game.
