Quality Control
Interscope· Long-awaited and much anticipated debut from the underground L.A. hip hop crew
Brothers and sisters, what lies in front of you is this fragile entity known as hip hop. We have witnessed the commercial degradation of this soul-saving genre for the last decade, and before we could even proclaim, "Who's your (Puff) Daddy?", the doors to the underground salvation squeaked shut like Brother Biggie's coffin lid.
That was the death of hip hop. But, my followers, we have reason to rejoice once again, for I have seen the light! The beginning of the new millennium brings renewed hope and new saviours. We must nurture the true messiahs with microphones and turntables, as we are all witnesses to the brand new/old beats. I speak, of course, of Mighty Mos Def, OutKast, Sister Lauryn, and now Jurassic 5. Let us sing the praises of Quality Control. The heavenly combination of soul, funk, ragtime, mad-ass hip hop beats and lyrical positivity harken the days when Native Tongues once cast their righteous influence over the world. Hip hop has arisen, albeit slowly and carefully.
And that, brothers and sisters, is the reason why we must keep the faith.
