Re: Phoney radio, by David Bright (Media, June 29)

I was glad to read your article castigating the CBC – I thoroughly agree with what you say. What an opinionated bunch of pedants and quasi-intellectuals they have in their employ. Writing to the president (as I have done) is to no avail – CBC is like the old Tory and Grit parties from ancient times. On one program all the fool does is tell asinine stories à la kindergarten style. I wrote to him and told him to get off it, but they’re still paying the oaf (good money, too). What a crock of horseshit!

Another DJ (?) who is on five hours a day (a woman) has an almost hysterical voice at times. I would think the main requisite of radio-broadcasting would be to have a well modulated speaking voice, n’est-ce pas?

I’m glad they finally got rid of Gabby Gabereaux (but they’ve got another one almost as bad. There’s nothing they don’t know!).

And just try to get something listenable on the weekend! It’s a lost cause (I eventually give in and get out my 1940s Big Band cassettes).

I must admit, though, I like Jurgen Goethe’s afternoon effort (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.). He seems to have more variation in his program.

The absolute worst thing is when they play that eerie, unmelodic monastery discordance (caterwauling!).

To be fair, though, they can say what they like about me!
