In the Mud promises a rich experience involving the earthy, elastic and multifaceted medium of contemporary ceramic art. Curated by Greg Payce, an ACAD ceramics instructor, this will be a mixed show from functional pottery to sculpture and will be exhibited at Untitled Arts Society Gallery starting July 15. As ceramic forms continue to muddy the waters between craft and fine arts traditions, the viewer is invited to reconsider its versatility. There will be a public reception on August 10, but until then viewing is by appointment only. Call 262-7911.

The Weavers, Spinners and Dyers of Alberta present examples of their work in Hands Alive at the Western Heritage Centre in Cochrane. Call 932-3514.

Special congratulations are in order for Tim Devlin, now officially the director at Truck artist-run centre. Former director Gregory Elgstrand has moved up the street to become the director/curator at the Art Gallery of Calgary.

ART on the avenue continues its daily artist dialogue in front of the Clarence Block on Stephen Avenue Walk. Point of Art Society will be around for part of Friday to Sunday, and starting on Monday the Art Gallery of Calgary will be a participant. Other artists featured at various times this week include James Wyper, Amanda Vollmer, James Reilly and Erin May. Why not stop by for a chat?
