by FFWD StaffRe: Pyramid scheme story a scam in itself, by Leeanne Bee (Letters, May 4)
Chad Saunderss article on pyramid schemes/scams was timely and factual. Leeanne Bee is awash in a sea of ignorance and naivete. The only way that people at the top of a pyramid scheme can multiply their "investment" is for an equivalent number of people to lose absolutely everything. Pyramids produce nothing and rely exclusively on growth. As that potential for growth is not infinite they all eventually and inevitably collapse, leaving everyone who isn't at the top poorer for their foolishness.
These so-called "Women Helping Women" are setting up either their friends or friends of their friends to lose significant amounts of money. It is especially ironic considering that many of these people are the types who use the word "karma" in daily conversation.
There really is no grey area: Pyramid schemes are illegal and immoral, not to mention an awful lot of bad karma for those involved.
